Structure Fire Threatens Garden valley Home

curry2On Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 02:45 p.m., ten (10) Douglas County Fire District No.2 Fire Fighters, with 4 Fire Engines, and 3 Command Units; under the direction of Fire Marshal Josep Pedrola; responded to a reported structure fire at 1988 Curry Road in Garden Valley.

First units arrived on scene 8 minutes after the initial dispatch and after reporting a detached outside structure curry1heavily involved on fire and also a natural cover fire that was threatening the nearby residence requested that a second alarm assignment by dispatched to the scene.

Fire fighters using hand lines aggressively attacked the fire to limit its spread and protect the threatened structure. The fire was declared under control in approximately 20 minutes. Fire crews remained on scene until approximately 5:00 p.m. curry3

Members of Douglas County Fire District No.2- Fire Investigation Unit identified the area of origin of the fire inside the storage building. The source of ignition has not been determined at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported.

According to property owner Don Kruse there were only old tools, farm equipment and other miscellaneous items inside the storage building, and they had very little or no value.

Fire District No.2 fire fighters were assisted by Douglas Forest Protective Association.
