Douglas County Fire District No.2 Outdoor Burn Ban to Be Temporarily Lifted

Effective today, May 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Douglas County Fire District No.2 will remove the District wide burn ban that has been in place since May 15th. This temporary lifting of the burn ban is due to the weather conditions we have experienced during the past few days, which have brought about cooler temperatures and increased moisture. However, the total rain fall for the year still well below average; therefore, DCFD2 urges the public to use extra caution when burning and to comply with all applicable burning regulations.

DCFD2 will enforce again a burn ban within its service area effective Monday, July 1, 2013 at 00:01 a.m. Regardless of changes in weather conditions, this burn ban will remain into effect until cooler temperatures and/or a season-ending “Fall” rain event occurs sometime in October that minimizes fire danger.

Burn permits are required year round for any outdoor burning. To request a burn permit Dixonville, Green, Melrose, Winchester, Wilbur, Garden Valley, Umpqua, and unincorporated areas of the City of Roseburg residents please call (541) 673-5503. Sutherlin and Calapooia residents please call (541)-459-1394, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
