Paint Warehouse Fire Quickly Controlled

Firefighters from Douglas County Fire District No.2 (DCFD2) responded to a report of fire at the “Paint Factory” store at 3863 NW Hooker Road at 4:19 A.M. this morning.  The first arriving crew found an exterior fire on a storage area on the back of the warehouse that had extended into the attic space of the building.  The building is a detached commercial building that houses the retail paint store (west side) and the warehouse (east side).  Firefighters immediately coordinated fire suppression efforts to extinguish both the fire on the exterior of the building, and the interior fire in the attic space.

Following an aggressive fire attack, the fire was contained to the exterior of the warehouse, and the interior part of the attic space where it breached through the wall.   Fire damage was extensive on the exterior northeast corner of the warehouse and minor on the east side of the attic space.  Smoke damage was significant in the attic space and minor on the retail store and warehouse.  There were no employees on site at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.  The fire was reported to 911 by a neighbor that lives across the street across.

DCFD2 responded to this incident with 3 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 3 command vehicles, and 20 firefighters.  Personnel from the Roseburg Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Avista Utilities and Pacific Power assisted with this incident.

DCFD2 investigators were on scene.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation at the time of this release.  Initial damage is estimated at $10,000.
