Structure Fire Damages Roseburg Home

Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to a reported structure fire at 1671 Fairhill Drive in Roseburg Thursday afternoon. The call was received at 1402 hours and the first fire engine arrived at 1413 hours. Firefighters arrived to find a car on fire in an enclosed garage that was attached to a residence. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the car fire and prevent the fire from spreading into the home. The garage suffered heat and smoke damage and smoke filled the attached residence. Firefighters used large fans to remove the smoke from the home.

 

The home was occupied by Robert Long of Roseburg. The car was completely destroyed in the fire. The estimated loss due to the fire was $ 6,000.00. Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the car fire. No results of the fire investigation are available at this time.

Fire District No. 2 responded with Two engines and nine firefighters. Winston Dillard Fire District also responded with one engine and two personnel.

Fire District No. 2 officials stated that it was very fortunate that the fire was discovered when it was. The fire could have easily spread to the entire home if it wasn’t discovered and firefighters summoned quickly.
