Due to the advanced stage of the fire, and the unstable condition of the roof and some of its structural elements, firefighters on the first arriving units could not immediately enter the building and were forced to attack the fire by applying large amounts of water from the exterior of the structure.
The fire was declared under control at 3:02 AM (22 minutes later.); although, firefighters remained on scene until 5:24 AM (1 hour and 44 minutes) conducting overhaul and mop up operations to ensure that the fire would not rekindle.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters occurred during this incident. Fire losses are estimated to be between $40,000.00 and $60,000.00. The cause of the fire is been investigated by Douglas County Fire District No.2 Fire Investigation Team .
